I’m an avid reader and always admired the lifestyle of a successful author. A certain sense of freedom is associated with writing success, but it does not come easy. Most aspiring writers work very hard for many years and never reach any level of success.
Someone once said that writing is about craft and mechanics, while storytelling is art and magic. The fact is that both are inseparable. Many good storytellers lack the mechanical skills, and a lot of good writers do not have the creative imagination necessary to envision and assemble a good story. In order to be a successful writer, both sides of the writing equation must be mastered. If one or the other is lacking, you will not succeed. The goal cannot be accomplished simply by reading books or taking classes. A lot of time, experience and hands-on writing practice is required to build all of the skills necessary for everything to meld into place.
After writing short stories for pleasure for over 20 years, dozens of short stories and several unfinished novels fill my repertoire. At this point in my life the time has come to see if I possess the “right stuff” necessary to become a successful, published writer. I welcome you to join me in my journey as I document what works and what doesn’t as I complete and publish my stories and novels.
In this website you will find tips and advice for honing your own writing skills, as well as self-publishing your stories and novels. You are invited to learn from any mistakes and benefit from my successes. My focus will be primarily on self-publishing my work for Kindle and other ebook readers.
